Revamping web copy
Working with Music for Dementia was special because the charity’s mission is close to my heart.
Music for Dementia promotes the many ways that music can make a difference to people who are living with dementia. Research has proved that music can help manage mood and anxiety, bring back happy memories, and reconnect people to those they love.
I’ve witnessed the power of music for people living with dementia myself. My mum was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s a few years ago and I’ve seen many times how music can lift her mood and spark memories. Although she no longer plays the piano, when she hears music she recognises, she will often join in and remember all the words. The ‘Mud, glorious mud’ refrain from The Hippopotamus by Flanders & Swann is a particular favourite of hers.
So I was delighted to be asked to write new web content for the charity. The aim of the project was to simplify the website and focus it towards family carers. The language needed to be straightforward and easy for busy people to digest. I worked with people from another charity, Dementia Carers Count, to ensure that the new web copy would be relevant and would appeal to this target audience.

Client testimonial
“Fiona immediately understood the brief, worked collaboratively, efficiently and with a real understanding of the audience we were trying to speak to, what we wanted to say and how best to communicate the information. I would highly recommend Fiona – such a pleasure to work with!”
