About Fiona Thompson, London freelance copywriter
Welcome. Thanks for stopping by. Here’s a bit of background on my work as a freelance copywriter: who I am, what I do and what I could do for you.
The story so far
I started with a degree in French, worked in fashion and textile publishing as a writer and editor, had a stint in business psychology, then became a freelance journalist and wrote regular features for The Times, The Guardian and Esquire magazine.
This experience means I’m good at interviewing people and identifying what makes your business tick, and writing clear, concise, engaging copy that tells the world what you do and how you do it.
My work and clients
I’ve worked as a freelance copywriter for all kinds of clients, from Nike, Nokia and the Paris Opera House to Deloitte and the BBC.
I enjoy writing for charities, particularly appeals and long-form web content. My charity clients include the Environmental Investigation Agency, Step up to Serve, The Brooke, Save the Children, Battersea Dogs and Cats Home, Help Musicians UK and Freedom from Torture.
Professional associations
I’ve been on the judging panel for the D&AD Writing for Design awards twice, and was President of the Writing for Design jury in April 2018. I’m also a long-time member of 26, the writers’ organisation, where I help organise and run workshops for fellow copywriters.
Languages and music
I speak fluent French and Italian and play the harp in my spare time. As a copywriter, the languages are useful when I’m working with international clients and my lifelong passion for music means I’m always interested in working with music clients.
Why Wordspring?
For me, Wordspring conjures up a picture of words bubbling up from a spring. I love that image of a constant flow of fresh ideas and new possibilities. The ‘spring’ element also links to renewal – the season of growth and green shoots. Wordspring brings it all together – the promise of fresh ideas and lime-green thinking.
And you?
How can I help you? If you’re looking for a freelance copywriter or have an idea for a writing project, do email me at fiona@wordspring.co.uk or call me on 07974 221635 and let’s have a chat.
